§ Mr. EnnalsThe North Western Regional Health Authority has not yet invited tenders for the geriatric medicine block at the Manchester Royal Infirmary but has issued an advertisement by way of advance notice to possible contractors. The advertisement mentions the possibility that the block may need to include two temporary operating theatres, the purpose of which would be to take the place of existing theatres at the infirmary during upgrading and structural strengthening of the present buildings. The regional health authority is at present considering whether this temporary provision will in fact be needed in the new block or whether alternative arrangements can be made to maintain theatre services.
