HC Deb 13 March 1978 vol 946 c8W
26. Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what are the most recent available statistics on the dollars earned by export of Scotch whisky to (a) North America, (b) EEC countries, and (c) Japan.

Mr. Meacher

In the 12 months ending January 1978 exports of Scotch and Northern Irish whisky to North America, the EEC and Japan were valued at £169 million, £103 million and £41 million fob respectively.

All exports earn foreign currency, but the denomination of the currency is not known.
