HC Deb 13 March 1978 vol 946 c10W
Mr. Lee

asked the Secretary of State for Trade how many banks or other institutions requiring certificates under the provisions of Section 123 of the Companies Act 1948 have been wound up since 1st January 1973 to date; and what are the names of those companies.

Mr. Clinton Davis

One hundred and seventy-five certificates have been granted under Section 123 of the Companies Act 1967. Of these, 134 are still valid. Once a certificate has been relinquished or revoked, no separate record is maintained of the subsequent activities of former holders. It would not be possible, except at disproportionate cost, to establish which of them had been wound up since 1st January 1973.
