§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consultations his Department undertook before deciding to make a further increase in fees for firearms certificates, effective from 1st April.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe local authority associations, the British Shooting Sports Council and the National Farmers' Union were given advance notice on 21st February of the Government's intention to increase the fees with effect from 1st April 1978. It was explained that the increases were the minimum required to cover increased administration costs, and that there was therefore no scope for consultation.
