HC Deb 13 March 1978 vol 946 cc22-3W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether, in the light of the deep concern felt by the users and various authorities, including the London Borough of Newham, at the application made to him by the Kent and Essex County Councils for a further increase in the Dartford Tunnel tolls and in view of supporting the Government's anti-inflation policy, he will decline giving his permission until meeting the various objectors and their Members of Parliament to discuss this question.

Mr. William Rodgers

No. A public inquiry is to be held and I shall have to consider the application in the light of the inspector's report.
