§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Defence what has been the reduction in war stocks by use, wastage or other reasons in 1975–76, 1976–77 and 1977–78 to date, for each Service, computed on the same basis as used for the figures of expenditure on war stocks given in his answer of 24th February 1978 to the Member for Tynemouth.
§ Dr. GilbertThere has been no reduction in the general level of war and contingency stocks. Variations from year to year in expenditure on such stocks are attributable to such factors as the level of existing stocks and the introduction of new equipment.
