HC Deb 10 March 1978 vol 945 cc818-9W
Mr. Gould

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the trading deficit in manufactures with the Federal German Republic has been during the past three months at an annual rate; and what representations he has made to the EEC Commission to request West Germany to correct this imbalance.

Mr. Meacher

I have been asked to reply.

The United Kingdom's crude trade deficit in manufactures with the Federal German Republic in the three months ended January 1978 was £1,636 million, at an annual rate—based on non-seasonally adjusted data. No representations have been made to the EEC Commission regarding this deficit.
