§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will hold discussions with senior Fellows of the Royal Society about the contribution which the United Kingdom can make to the United Nations Conference on Science and Technology to be held in 1979 in Vienna.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI understand that a Fellow has been appointed by the Council of the Royal Society to look into its possible involvement in the United Nations Conference on Science and Technology for Development, in concert both with Her Majesty's Government and with international non-governmental scientific organisations with which the Society has affiliation. A meeting has been arranged and will take place shortly between representatives of the Society and officials of my Ministry. This follows several contacts between officers of the Royal Society and my officials since October last year.
