§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will initiate urgently within the appropriate United Nations bodies discussions on the need for food, medical supplies and other humanitarian relief for all people in Eritrea who are victims of the current fighting.
§ Mr. LuardThe United Kingdom Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva is discussing this matter with the United Nations Disaster Relief Co-ordinator and with the High Commissioner for Refugees. There are, however, constraints on their ability to intervene to assist in the absence of a request from the Ethiopian Government.
