§ 62. Mr. Whitlockasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why a cremation authorisation form in respect of a patient who has died in hospital attracts a fee of £11; and if he will make arrangements to end this charge.
§ Mr. DeakinsThe completion of cremation certificates is not considered to fall within the scope of hospital doctors' National Health Service duties and they may therefore make a charge for their services. We have no plans to alter these arrangements.
