HC Deb 06 March 1978 vol 945 c487W
43. Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he remains satisfied with the monitoring of petrol service station prices by his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. John Cunningham

Yes. The average price of petrol moved up only marginally during the tanker drivers' dispute and there were only isolated reports of sharp price increases. As supplies return to normal, prices are tending to move down towards their earlier levels.

My Department is continuing to monitor average retail petrol prices on a regular basis.
