asked the Minister of Overseas Development why £94,000 of British aid was dispensed to Uganda in 1976.

No aid was provided in 1976 to the Ugandan Government. The figure shown in "British Aid Statistics" relates to the following£40,000 supplementation of salaries of a small number of British citizens working in Uganda under earlier arrangements; £24,000 loan advance to the Crown Agents to enable the continuation of pension payments to British officers formerly serving in Uganda: £23,000 on research in connection with the East African TB Investigation Centre located in Uganda; £6,000 Commonwealth Development Corporation investment in housing; and £1,000 on training for a Ugandan completing a course in 1976.

Supplementation will cease on 31st March 1978 and there will be no further payments under the research project or for training.
