HC Deb 02 March 1978 vol 945 c312W
39. Mr. Arnold

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied with the degree of operational co-ordination within police authorities following reorganisation.

Dr. Summerskill

I take it that the hon. Member has in mind the consequences of local government reorganisation. We have no reason to believe that coordination between areas which were policed by different forces prior to reorganisation is deficient. I should make it clear that operational co-ordination is a matter for the chief constable concerned and not his police authority.
