HC Deb 02 March 1978 vol 945 c304W
13. Mr. Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish the latest available figure for the number of reported offences committed by juveniles.

Mr. John

Offences are known to be committed by juveniles only if the offenders are apprehended. The latest available information is contained in the 1976 Criminal Statistics for England and Wales, published last year, which shows that 173,610 juveniles were found guilty of, or cautioned for, indictable offences in 1976.
