HC Deb 02 March 1978 vol 945 cc392-3W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will urge Derbyshire County Council to suspend its action to close eight registration offices in Derbyshire until local communities, parish and district councils have been properly consulted.

Mr. Moyle

The Registrar General has already advised the Derbyshire County Council to consult objectors to its proposals. If objectors are not satisfied by the Council, they will have the right to make representations to my right hon. Friend if the Council submits the amending registration scheme which will require his approval before any offices can be closed.
