§ Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has now completed his consultations with the police about an experimental scheme for tape recording of interviews at police stations to provide evidence for the Royal Commission on Criminal Procedure; and where such experiments are now expected to take place.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesMy Department is at present preparing a paper for the Royal Commission on Criminal Procedure about the possibility of an experiment so that the views of the Commission can be obtained on its desirability and scope, in relation to the Commission's own work, before a final decision about an experiment is taken. Further consultation with the police must await that decision.
