HC Deb 01 March 1978 vol 945 cc215-6W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Attorney-General if he will refer to the Director of Public Prosecutions with a view to prosecution cases which the Royal Commission on Legal Services has drawn to its attention which it considers worthy of consideration for prosecution, but on which, by reason of its terms of reference, it cannot itself take action.

The Attorney-General

The Royal Commission on Legal Services has no facilities for the investigation of complaints that criminal offences have been committed, and it is its practice to advise persons who bring such complaints to its notice that the police should be asked to conduct investigations. In appropriate cases the police submit reports on their investigations to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
