asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what have been the main reasons for the delay in responding to the Cripps Report on the operation of the Caravan Sites Act 1968.

In addition, loans amounting to £50,000 held by local public bodies in England were written off by the Public Works Loan Board in 1968; loans held by the Herring Industry Board in Scotland, amounting to £9,301 and £80,626 were written off in 1969–70 and 1974–75 respectively.

Details of capital debt of public corporations operating in the whole of the United Kingdom, written off by central Government in the period 1966 to 1976, are given on page 124 of the notes to the Blue Book "National Income and Expenditure 1966–1976".

The report was published in April 1977. The report contained a large number of recommendations, including proposals for increased public expenditure, and wide-ranging consultations were necessary. I hope to respond in the near future.
