HC Deb 29 June 1978 vol 952 c685W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what approach his Department and the Housing Corporation have had from Glasgow District Council over the future of housing in the Port Dundas area in Glasgow in respect of the modernisation of these houses or the demolition of the scheme or the use of the houses for housing under the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1976; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hugh D. Brown

The district council asked my Department on 23rd May about the possibility of transferring to a housing association a number of council houses in the Port Dundas area which are in need of modernisation. I consider that housing association resources for rehabilitation should continue to be committed primarily to substandard tenement houses and my Department accordingly replied on 6th June to the effect that the transfer of these houses would not at present be appropriate.
