HC Deb 29 June 1978 vol 952 cc646-7W
Mr. David Walder

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he has taken since the 1976 report on electrical fatalities in the home to encourage the safe rewiring of domestic premises; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Armstrong

Few, if any, of the accidental deaths described in the report to which the hon. Member refers, were directly caused by defective or worn out wiring systems. None-the-less, I am very much aware of the desirability of renewing outdated domestic electric wiring and I am considering how rewiring might best be encouraged.
