§ Mr. David Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in view of the problems caused to residents by the current delay in announcing a decision on the improvement of the A34 from Whitway, north of Litchfield, to Newbury, he will give an undertaking to announce his decision before 1980.
§ Mr. HoramMuch more study has yet to be carried out on the second stage of the A34 Litchfield-Newbury improvement, running northwards from Whitway. When this has been completed, an announcement will be made on the possible options, but this is unlikely to be as early as 1980.
