§ Mr. Leeasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with the number of entrants coming into tenant or owner-occupier farming from outside the industry; and if he will make an estimate of the number of such persons that are likely to make careers in farming during the next five years.
§ Mr. StrangThere are no figures on the number of entrants coming into farming from outside the industry. We are, however, concerned about the general problem of opportunities for entry for young people and have asked Lord Northfield's Committee of Inquiry into the acquisition and occupancy of agricultural land to look at this.
