§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what is the estimated value of tractors, agricultural and other vehicles which have been stolen in Northern Ireland from farms during the past six and 12 months, respectively, stating the number and type of vehicle;
(2) if he is satisfied with the co-operation between the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the police of the Republic of Ireland in view of the widespread thefts of tractors and agricultural and other vehicles from farmers in Northern Ireland which are then moved across the border for sale in the Republic of Ireland for transport abroad to the Middle East.
§ Mr. DunnI understand from the Chief Constable that since 1st January 1978 10 tractors and three agricultural vehicles, of an estimated value of £58,850, have been reported as stolen in Northern Ireland. The figures for the previous six months were three tractors and two agricultural vehicles, of an estimated value of £22,300. I am informed that the RUC is receiving the fullest co-operation from the Garda Siochana in its investigations.
