§ Mr. Robert Sheldon,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 15th June 1978; Vol. 951, c. 638], gave the following information:
Number of higher-rate taxpayers 1973–74 390,000 1977–78 (provisional) 920,000 Married couples are counted as one.
