Mr. Burden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give an undertaking that staff who are to teach and train mentally handicapped adults will continue to receive full-time specialised training.

The Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work, the statutory body responsible for training in the social services, is, I understand, considering ways of ensuring the best possible training for staff required to teach and train mentally handicapped adults.
