§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Transport why several miles of the M40 between Stokenchurch and Wycombe was reduced to single-line traffic on Monday 19th June when there was no visible sign of any roadwork activity.
§ Mr. HoramThis length of motorway is regularly used by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, with the agreement of the authorities concerned, to test road surface materials with the aims of reducing the cost of motorway maintenance and improving road safety. One carriageway was closed on 19th June between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to carry out measurements of surface texture.
