§ Mr. Nobleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if his Department has been able to consider helping the work of the Association to Combat Huntington's Chorea; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisI am very much aware of the valuable work carried out by the Association. My officials have met the Association's officers on a number of occasions to discuss matters of mutual concern.
I am pleased to announce that I have authorised the payment of £7,000 to the Association in the current financial year. A grant of £5,000 is being paid as a contribution towards the general administrative costs of the Association. A further £2,000 is to be paid to enable it to prepare information leaflets on Huntington's Chorea to assist professional workers and families in which there is a sufferer.
I am deeply conscious of the great difficulties faced by sufferers from Hunting-ton's Chorea and by their families. In the four years of its existence, the Association has done a great deal to provide help and support to families. I am extremely glad to have been able to help their important work.
