§ Mr. Michael Hamiltonasked the Lord President of the Council what currently is the approximate cost to the taxpayer of answering a Question for Written Answer; and, in view of this cost and of the fact that more than 50 such Questions may be, and on occasions have been, tabled simultaneously by an hon. Member, if he will move to limit the number of Questions for Written Answer which may be tabled in any one day.
§ Mr. FootThe estimated average cost as at the end of March 1978 is £18 for a written answer to a Parliamentary Question. I have no doubt the Select Committee on Procedure will have noted the hon. Member's proposal, and I suggest that consideration of any change in Question procedure await the Committee's report.
