§ Mr. Merlyn ReesInformation on the length of sentence of those received into detention centres during 1976 is given in Table 3.3 of the "Report on the Work of the Prison Department, 1976: Statistical Tables", Cmnd. 6884. Of the 1,526 sentenced to over three months, 1,470614W were sentenced to six months. Estimates of the amount of remission received by those sentenced to three months or six months who completed their sentence are shown in the following table.
