§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from the Nature Conservancy Council about the threat to village ponds since he requested its views on this matter.
§ Mr. MarksThe Nature Conservancy Council has advised me that it is concerned about the reduction in the number of village ponds because of their576W obvious contribution to the nation's wildlife scene apart from their amenity and other values. It is currently considering the best ways of helping the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers to achieve the optimum improvement in the situation and is in discussion with it to that end.
