asked the Secretary of State for Wales what were the terms of reference of the Council for the Welsh Language; why he decided to terminate its work; and when its activities formally came to an end.

The terms of reference of the Council for the Welsh Language were:

To examine and keep under review social and other factors affecting the use and welfare of the Welsh Language and the relationship between these and the use of both languages in Wales;
