HC Deb 09 June 1978 vol 951 cc262-3W
Mrs. Kellett-Bowman

asked the Secretary of State for Industry when he expects the Commission to report on the equalisation of postal rates as between the original six members of the EEC and the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark.

Mr. Les Huckfield

At the meeting of Ministers of Posts and Telegraphs of member States of the EEC held in Brussels last December, the Commission was charged with a study on the application of each member State's internal postage rate to letters of 20 grammes or less, and to postcards, posted to other member States.

The Commission has recently circulated a questionnaire to member States and this is due for return by mid-July. Thereafter it will depend on the Commission itself how soon it reports.
