asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the present employment of HMS "Fearless" and HMS "Intrepid".

In addition to her operational role as an assault ship HMS "Fearless" is employed as a training ship for both officers and ratings. She is allowance for officers of field and flag rank, respectively; and how this has altered in each of the past six years.

Standard rates of entertainment allowance are paid to officers in command appointments in the rank of brigadier, colonel or lieutenant colonel or equivalent for the entertainment of officers under command and of casual visitors. Details of the rates over the past six years are shown below. The Navy rates also cover lieutenant commander and are based on slightly different criteria.

at present taking part in the amphibious exercise Whisky Galore in the Hebrides. HMS 'Intrepid" is undergoing a refit at Portsmouth dockyard which is expected to be completed later this year.
