§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek powers to allow local authorities and nationalised industries to act in the community interest as estate agents provided this provides a fair deal for the consumer and does not result in the taxpayer subsidising the operation.
§ Mr. ArmstrongMy right hon. Friend has no plans at present to seek powers to enable local authorities to provide estate agency services. He has no general responsibility for the nationalised industries.
