HC Deb 31 July 1978 vol 955 c113W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will intervene in the dispute between the Severn-Trent Water Authority and the Welsh Water Authority to ensure that there is no English veto on the Welsh Water Authority using water extracted in Wales to answer the needs for water within Wales.

Mr. Alec Jones

I presume that the hon. Member is referring to the Wye transfer scheme. This is currently the subject of a local inquiry at Llandrindod Wells and it would be wholly improper for me to intervene. The decision on the scheme will be taken jointly by my right hon. and learned Friend, and by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment after they have considered the inspector's report.
