§ Mr. MacGregorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will confirm that the introduction of a reduced rate income tax band in his Budget has necessitated an increase from 36 pages to over 400 pages in the standard PAYE tax tables; and what is the total cost of producing and circulating to employers these tax tables in the current fiscal year and in 1977–78.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon,pursuant to his previous reply, gave the following answer:
78WYes. The estimated cost of producing and issuing tax tables to employers in the current year is about £4¼ million. The cost for 1977–78 was about £435,000.
