Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the value of goods and services provided under the National Health Service by (a) opticians and (b) dentists and orthodontists in the area covered by the Macclesfield parliamentary constituency in 1970, 1974 and 1977 at constant prices and in 1970 money terms, respectively.

However, the annual cost of the provision of general ophthalmic services and of general dental services—including orthodontic treatment and appliances—in the former Cheshire executive council area—1969–70 and 1973–74 and the Cheshire family practitioner committee area (1976–77) are given below. All the figures include income from charges paid by patients and are at constant prices in 1970 money terms.
