HC Deb 31 July 1978 vol 955 cc6-7W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Lord President of the Council (1) if, following the implementation of the Scotland and Wales Bills and the consequent removal of the need for Scottish and Welsh Grand Committees he will institute a new Grand Committee for Members representing constituencies in Greater London; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if, when reconsidering the frequency of questioning of the Secretaries of State for Scotland and for Wales in the House after the implementation of the Scotland and Wales Bills and the consequent removal of responsibilities to the new Assemblies, he will institute a Question period for Members representing Greater London; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Foot

Any proposed changes in the Committee structure of the House, or in arrangements for Question Time consequent upon the establishment of the Scottish and Welsh Assemblies, would need to be considered in the light of any recommendations which may be put forward in the forthcoming report of the Select Committee on Procedure. Matters relating to Greater London can be raised in the Standing Committee on Regional Affairs.
