§ Mr. Bowdenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what proportion of homes, in Great Britain, with an accessible roof space, have not yet been brought up to the standards of roof insulation recommended by his Department; and from what survey the information was obtained;
(2) what proportion of (a) owner-occupied homes, (b) private rented homes and (c) local authority rented homes, respectively have not yet been brought up to the standards of roof insulation recommended by his Department; and from what survey the information was obtained;
(3) what is the proportion of homes, with an accessible roof space, which were (a) built before 1919, (b) built between 1919 and 1945 and (c) built after 1945, respectively, which have not yet been brought up to the standard of roof insulation recommended by his Department; and from what survey the information was obtained.
§ Mr. ArmstrongA standard of 80 mm of mineral fibre mat—or equivalent for other forms of insulation—is recommended by the Department of Energy and by my Department for energy conservation purposes. According to statistics obtained from surveys carried out by Audits of Great Britain Ltd. the percentage of dwellings in each of the various categories referred to which do not meet this standard is as follows:
