HC Deb 31 July 1978 vol 955 c159W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the savings in public expenditure achieved by each Department of State and Ministry in response to the "Save-It" campaign.

Mr. Armstrong

It is not possible to estimate separately savings due to the "Save-It" campaign or for each Department, but after an allowance has been made for variations in the size of the civil estate and other factors such as weather variations, the cumulative cash savings at 1978–79 prices from 1972–73 to 1976–77 as a result of all energy conservation measures undertaken by the Property Services Agency are estimated to be £50 million.
