§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in order to avoid confusion and in the light of concern expressed by the police, he will institute a publicity campaign to inform motorists that under the Road Traffic Acts they must stop when requested to do so by the police.
§ Mr. William RodgersThe Highway Code reminds drivers and cyclists that under section 159 of the Road Traffic Act 1972 they must stop when required to do so by a police officer in uniform. I do not think a separate publicity campaign is needed.
