Cigarette Advertising (British Airways Flights)

Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take steps to ensure, in the context of his campaign to persuade people to stop smoking in the interests of good health, that no cigarette advertising is included on British Airways long-haul flights.

No. This would be inconsistent with the Government's present attitude towards cigarette advertising generally which is set out in paragraph 70 of the White Paper "Prevention and Health" (Cmnd. 7047).
