HC Deb 27 July 1978 vol 954 cc831-2W
16. Mr. Litterick

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the per capita tax revenue per annum from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, respectively, in the last year.

Mr. Denzil Davies

Excluding Revenue from local authority rates and national insurance contributions, we estimate that, for the latest available year, 1976–77, the tax borne per capita by residents in each country were £594 for England, £536 for Scotland, £499 for Wales and £432 for Northern Ireland.
