§ Mr. MaclennanIt is not possible to provide a precise estimate commodity by commodity. However, it was estimated that the phased 7½ per cent. green pound devaluation announced on 1st February would, when fully worked through, increase the level of retail food prices by about 1½ per cent. The devaluation has not yet been implemented for all commodities: it will not apply in the cereals and poultry sectors until 1st August.
