asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many children were accommodated in local authority homes in Ipswich in the last five years.

Mr. Moyle,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 10th July 1978; Vol. 953, c. 437], gave the following information:

The number of children in the care of Suffolk county council social services department accommodated in Ipswich in maintained or controlled community homes and administered through the Ipswich divisional office was, at 31st March each year:

During the period 1974 to 1978 there have been changes in the number of homes in Ipswich administered by the Ipswich divisional office. Currently, of the seven homes—providing 74 places—situated within the Ipswich borough boundary, two—providing 17 places—are administered by other divisional offices.

The total number of children accommodated during the five year period is not available.
