Sir Anthony Royleasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will instruct the probation service to institute a management committee for the proposed bail hostel in Kew following the clear recommendation in the inspector's report dated 31st October 1977, paragraph 14, referring to the probation service's willingness to co-opt local representatives on to the hostel management committee.
§ Dr. SummerskillThe South-West London Probation and After-Care Committee is responsible for the management of this hostel. My right hon. Friend has no power to direct it how it should carry out this responsibility, but I understand that that it is conscious of the need to involve the local community in the affairs of the hostel.
