asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many complaints (or prosecutions) were recorded last year of illegal use of wireless transmitters,

  1. (i) in frequency bands set aside for amateur use, and
  2. (ii) in the 27 MHz model control band.

Information about the number of complaints concerning illicit use of radio is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate expense. During 1977 there were 22 prosecutions for the unlicensed use of radio transmitting equipment in the amateur wavebands, and five prosecutions for unlicensed use in the 27 MHz band.
