Mr. John Huntasked the Secretary of State for Energy in what respects the United Kingdom standards governing the temperature limits of the external parts of gas cookers and similar appliances differ from those operating within Europe; and whether his Department's representative on the British Standards Institution currently considering this and related matters will be proposing the early harmonisation of standards.
§ Dr. John CunninghamThe temperature limits set by the present British Standard for external surfaces of gas cookers and similar appliances are generally lower than those specified in other European countries. Work on a harmonised European standard is already well advanced.
