§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for Energy what amount of crude oil was refined in the United Kingdom in the first six months of 1978; and what proportion that represents of gross refinery capacity.
§ Mr. Benn, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 21st July 1978], gave the following further information:
Figures for the amount of crude oil refined in the United Kingdom in the first six months of 1978 are not yet available. In the first five months of this year the throughput of crude and process oils through United Kingdom refineries was 40.1 million tonnes. This throughput represents 67 per cent. of gross refinery capacity in the United Kingdom.
