§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Trade why, in the light of the Prime Minister's statement that the four Rolls-Royce Avon jet engines currently held, in defiance of a court order, at Rolls-Royce, East Kilbride, belong to the Chilean Government, it is necessary to provide an export licence for their return.
§ Mr. DellThe Export of Goods (Control) Order 1978 prohibits the export to any destination of certain goods, including aircraft engines, whether used or unused, except under the authority of a licence granted by the Secretary of State. These engines fall within the scope of the order and may be exported only under licence.
